There are several benefits to joining the Orange County Enrolled Agents. Besides saving money for education opportunities, (which is laid out nicely on the CSEA website), the OCEA is a chapter of the California Society of Enrolled Agents (CSEA)
CSEA is the preeminent society for Enrolled Agents. Through the support and efforts of our Members, the California Society is recognized as the professional organization for Enrolled Agents in California, designed exclusively to promote and protect the interests of Enrolled Agents. CSEA has an extensive public information and awareness program to educate the public about Enrolled Agents - who EAs are and what they do. It's the most aggressive media campaign ever launched on this topic. The core of our campaign is our "We SpEAk Tax" slogan used in press releases, news stories, radio and national television programs featuring Enrolled Agents. It's been a resounding success!
CSEA is one of the largest professional organizations of Enrolled Agents in the country, with affiliates and associates in nearly every state and Japan. The annual Super Seminar® is one of the largest and most respected tax education programs in the nation. Together with the National Association of Enrolled Agents, CSEA maintains an active voice in both state and federal tax legislation and has contributed directly to many of the changes to tax laws and regulations over the years.
As CSEA membership grows, the Society is able to provide more benefits and services to our Members and to the taxpayers our Members serve. Members of CSEA enjoy many benefits, such as a significant increase in the amount of available education programs, numerous discounted services, and professional networking resources. Membership in CSEA is a small investment with large returns. Members of CSEA regularly contribute to numerous publications and are sought after for their knowledge of taxes and taxation.
Your first year's membership is for twelve months from the date of your application. At the end of your first year, you will receive an invoice which prorates your second year's dues to the following June 30. Professional Associates are California tax preparers who are lawfully engaged in the practice of tax, but not defined in §10.3(a) through (d) of Circular 230, and who have not been removed from practice under the provisions of Circular 230. Professional Associates are required to meet the same continuing professional education requirements as Members, and annually attest to the Society the fulfillment of those continuing professional education requirements. Professional Associates are also subject to all applicable provisions of CSEA's Bylaws and the National Association's Code of Ethics and Rules of Professional Conduct.
Student Associates are students at accredited colleges, professional schools, or state ROP credentialed programs, and are enrolled in a tax, accounting, or finance career track. Individuals who are defined in §10.3(a) through (d) of Circular 230 or have been removed from practice under the provisions of Circular 230 are not eligible for this category.
